Our education always compares and grades children intentionally or unintentionally. Not to mention anything else, let’s just talk about the selection of the so-called “three best students” every semester. The number of places is generally limited to 3. In fact, most of the first-grade children are \”good in study\”, \”good in health\” and \”good in thinking\”. Why are only those three children going home with prizes and certificates? This kind of selection allows those young minds to compare and contrast, and feel that they are different from others. Not to mention children, even adults find it difficult to remain calm when faced with such a situation. Think about how you feel when you are not rated as \”excellent\” or \”advanced\”. What\’s more, this kind of selection is not scientific. To put it bluntly, it is \”harming\” most students in disguise. At the end of each semester, when I hand out certificates to students, I feel not happy, but worried. The selection criterion for \”Three Good Students\” is often only \”good study\”. However, how to define good learning? Our academic evaluation standard is a grading system. A score of 85 or above is considered excellent. Naturally, there are more than three students in each class who can be rated as \”excellent\”. Therefore, the final selection of \”three good students\” ultimately depends on the teacher\’s personal preferences and feelings. In this case, class cadres must be given priority, so it will appear that as long as they are class cadres, \”three good students\” and \”activists\” will be guaranteed. Some students are elected class cadres in the lower grades, and then they can serve as hereditary officials until they graduate from elementary school. They get tired of winning prizes every year! Of course, all this has nothing to do with the children, and many teachers can\’t help themselves. Basic education is not used to \”compare\” and \”screen\” students, but to tap the \”potential\” of each student. However, the current evaluation standard of \”three good students\” is a disguised attack on most students, and may even create \”problem students\”. At present, news media and educators have questioned the selection of \”three good students\” and \”activists\”, but few can come up with a more scientific and easy-to-operate \”reward\” method. Maybe basic education doesn’t need such “rewards” in the first place? Regarding this issue, I think frontline teachers have the best experience and say. \”Good study\”, \”good thinking\”, \”good body\” – these three good standards are very vague and give people an ambiguous feeling. First of all, \”study well\” – now only looks at scores, which is a product of exam-oriented education. Secondly, \”good thinking\” – what counts as good thinking? Is thinking good when you have not done bad things, or is thinking good when you have done good things? Is it better to do more for the class, or to win honors for the class? This is not an opportunity that every student has. If the child is not a class cadre, if the child does not receive the attention of the teacher, if the class management is not democratic…even if the child has such ambition, it will be difficult to be evaluated. Unfortunately, there is more than enough, not to mention that this is something that cannot be \”quantified\”. Speaking of \”good ideas\”, this seems to be a legacy of the \”Cultural Revolution\”! But no matter what, what is certain is that the majority of children with good ideas in a class cannot be only three or four, right? If only these three or four children are rated, are the other children considered bad, or not so good? Or is it good or bad? If it\’s not goodOr not very good, then this class is finished, and all the teachers in this class should have been laid off long ago! If it\’s not good or bad, how did you get this evaluation? What are the evaluation criteria? You know, our children’s “ideas” are not “products.” Finally, “good health” – is even more confusing. Those children who were rated as \”three good students\” are similar to most children. Some may have worse physical fitness because of their diligent study! Of course, as long as he has the first two items and doesn\’t get sick, it will be fine. Every teacher might as well look at whether there are more sick people or not sick people in the class? Such \”good health\” is not mentioned at all! That year, a student A was transferred to my class. He was very good and was also a top student in his original school. At the end of the semester, I encountered a problem. According to the total number of students in the class, the school only gave me three places for \”three good students\” in my class. However, it turns out that the three \”three good students\” have not declined. What should I do? Not giving A three good students would be a blow to A. Replacing the original one with one will also hit the replaced one. In the end, I spent my own money to buy an additional \”Three Good Student\” prizes for A. Of course, the names are still reported to the school. The school said that as long as the teachers themselves solve the problem of the prizes, one or two additional places for \”Three Good Students\” can be added. So, after all, it is still a question of money. If other students improve next year and reach the level of those three \”three good students\” (this is very possible), should I continue to pay for it myself, change the original \”three good students\”, or keep it as it is? Do not move? This is really a problem. I wonder if the \”ancestor\” who originally introduced the \”Three Best Student Selection\” can solve it, but I can\’t find him! Flowers, plants and trees are growing and full of vitality. One day, a hard-working \”gardener\” came and said to the grass, \”Look at how beautiful the flowers are. Why don\’t you look like a flower?\” He said to the flower, \”Look how tall the tree is, why don\’t you look like a tree?\” He said to the tree, \”Look how soft the grass is, why don\’t you look like grass?\” As a result, the grass turned yellow, the flowers withered, and the trees crooked…
