What is a hernia? In medicine, a hernia means that an organ or tissue of the human body leaves its normal anatomical position and enters another part through a weak point, defect or hole formed congenitally or acquired. Common hernias are divided into umbilical hernias, femoral hernias and inguinal hernias. Under normal circumstances, umbilical hernias can heal on their own, while femoral hernias mostly occur in women, but are rare in children. Relatively speaking, both of them are minor hernias. Inguinal hernia is undoubtedly the king. It protrudes at the base of the leg (that is, the groin), and inside is the small intestine, omentum, ovary, fallopian tube, etc. in the abdominal cavity. Its most typical manifestation is: when the baby\’s abdominal pressure increases (such as crying, defecation, playing, etc.), a bulge will appear on the outside of the upper end of the scrotum. When the baby is quiet or lies down for a period of time, the bulge will gradually disappear, that is, the intestines in the hernia sac return to the abdominal cavity. This time may be long or short, and babies during this period may have non-specific symptoms such as \”easy to cry and loss of appetite\”. If the lump lasts for a long time or is painful when touched, it may be incarcerated. At this time, the baby will cry more and have a temper. If no measures are taken at this time, more and more protruding parts may occur, and symptoms such as stiffness and swelling may even occur. Therefore, if parents find abnormalities in their baby, they should take them to the hospital for examination immediately.
